Lisa and her daughter Signe working on a large stage backdrop.
Signe very intent and serious about her work.
Posing with the backdrop.
Signe always came with me when I painted backdrops. At three she so wanted to paint and stood at the edge of the canvas with a long brush reaching for the tippy buckets of color. At about age 7 I let her draw a section and paint thinking I could paint over if need be. I turned around and this is what I saw. After that she helped on all parts of the future projects.
Signe's Dala Horses
acrylic on wood
Dala horses painted by my daughter Signe at age 11
Here are jewelry pieces that Signe hand painted to pay for her choir trip to Sweden. She painted many many of these all different patterns and colors when she was ages 10-12. Her grandpa cut them out of wood. They were sealed and used as necklaces and pins and sold in stores, etsy and on the choir table at concerts. She had a wonderful trip traveling all over Sweden for three weeks and singing many places.
